Little footsteps-and the butterfly

Don’t blink, they grow up so fast.

I spent dinner time at my daughter’s home the other day (we had pizza, YUM!). When we arrived, my grandson RUSHED to me and, with a tackle-hug, the whole days troubles poofed like a dark cloud in a spring breeze. How precious is that time? And as I watched him do laps in the room (ZOOM ZOOM!) I saw the most 6 year old looking 3 year old ever. He is getting so big, and TALL! Kids grow up, and the grown-ups around them struggle to hold on to those precious moments. That’s why when I saw this adorable Butterfly Craft, using the kiddos little feet prints as wings, I HAD to do it with him. After a lengthy time displayed proudly on the fridge, I will put it away safely to bring out one day when his big man feet will barely fit on the page.

Feel free to print out this free (wingless) butterfly I made for you to use for your own little feet. Try putting the left foot on the right side and the right foot on the left, I feel it gives a good curve to the little feet wings :)

-A little added note, and this will feel contrived, but I couldn’t help but realize after I had written this messy paragraph, that much like a butterfly in it’s change from caterpillar to spread wings and fly, our littles do the same. As they go from that sweet cherub baby, to a tackle-hugging toddler then eventually, one day, we will look up and see a grown-up, spreading their wings. (GiGi, why you crying?)

Butterfly Feet Craft

Supplies-

Paper

Crayons, markers, paint, etc., whatever you would like to use to decorate the body (or leave it plain)

Non-toxic paint

The most important thing you will need is, Have Fun!

Print out the butterfly body I made for you here, or make one of your own. Leave the body plain or design it to your heart’s content. Then paint your little’s feet anyway you want with non-toxic paint. Help them press each little painted foot to the paper to make adorable wings! I personally find putting left foot on the right side and right foot on the left side make a nice curve to the feet wings.
